2011 Student Scholarship Award Presentations at Luncheon

Each year, the Washington Chapter of the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) awards several gifts to graduating high school seniors recognized as outstanding students.

  • Several one-time awards of $2,500
  • The three top award winners will also receive an additional $2,500 per year for up to an additional three years, if they eligibility, and a “signing incentive” if, following undergraduate graduation, the student is employed by DoD or USCG.
  • The top two award winners will also be recommended to our national organization for consideration for an additional $2,000 Scholarship

The award is to be used in attaining educational goals. Winners will be recognized by the Society at the June luncheon.

Installation of 2011-2012 Chapter Officers

The ASMC Washington Chapter is honored to recognize long-standing member Wayne Whiten with the ASMC Washington Chapter 2011 Distinguished Service Award.

Wayne's selection was the result of his peers nominating him and the Chapter's Executive Board unanimously approving what was clearly a richly deserved and well earned nomination, especially in light of the tremendous contribution he has made to our chapter over many years.

Wayne embodied the best of what the volunteer spirit is all about.  His many, selfless contributions have enabled the chapter to be successful and professional in many endeavors, most noteworthy its handling of our annual National Capital Region Professional Development Institute and Golf Tournament registration requirements, via innovative online registration/payments/member outreach.  He is a crucial "go to guy" for much of what gets done -- usually quietly and behind the scenes.
